Bishopswood

This was a large 1920s house in need of a complete overhaul. We chose to retain and restore charming original features such as the entrance hallway, stairs and lead windows, introducing period-appropriate panelling, ceiling detailing and fireplaces. The lighting design was important to help define areas within the large open plan space, as was the introduction of Venetian Marmorino plaster on the family room walls, creating textural softness and warmth. An extra large sofa allows for generous gatherings. Bespoke handpainted and embroidered silk wallpaper, rich silks and velvets adds a sense of intimacy and luxury to both the master bedroom and formal living room. The use of smoked French oak flooring throughout the ground floor creates a sense of spatial flow. The family are now able to relax in separately zoned areas, but also come together in light-filled communal living and entertaining spaces.
